The Forgotten First: Kenny Washington, Woody Strode, Marion Motley, Bill Willis, and the Breaking of the NFL Color Barrier Customer Reviews
:- 1.0 out of 5 stars from terence t. -- Complete failure to do research and review film. : Having a book on these four men is much needed. Though all four men have their backgrounds explained, there is almost no analysis of how these men played in the NFL. Motley's game against Pittsburgh in October of 1950 should have been detailed. Bill Willis stance, and techniques, and his adjustments is not explained? Why? The authors did not watch film, and that is obvious. On page 209 states Bill Willis chased down Choo Choo Coleman? Clarence Coleman was born August 25th, 1937....so he was 13 years old in December of 1950. Get your facts straight! Washington completed one pass against Eagles, who did he complete the pass to? Which games did Woody Strode catch a pass? ( Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2021 )

- 5.0 out of 5 stars from LaShanda -- Must Read for Football Fans!! : Thank you Keyshawn Johnson & Bob Glauber for this book!! As an avid fan of football, I’m embarrassed I did not know much about these four great men & their trailblazing trek into football at both the collegiate and professional levels. I know I am not alone either, I know countless others do not know the stories of Kenny Washington, Woody Strode, Marion Motley & Bill Willis. These men experienced racism at many levels. These men fought hard to break the color barrier in the NFL & we should do more to celebrate their journey. While it was great to celebrate The Forgotten First, it is equally disappointing that the current NFL does not do more to celebrate them. ( Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Rachel -- Forgot One : I have not bought this book. I read the outline that Amazon had written. What about Frederick Douglas Pollard? He was the first to play in the NFL and the First African American Coach in 1920 or 1921. He played and coached for the same team. They called him Fritz Pollard. It was good to know about Woody Strode because I remember him playing in movies. The Man Who Shot Liberty Balance and Captain Buffalo in a movie. He was also in A movie about some spiders. Can't think of the name of it right now. I didn't know about the other three players. Good to know there were some Firsts. ( Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2022 )
